We are seeking a hands-on Communications & Infrastructure Support Technician to support, maintain, and troubleshoot critical onsite communication and connectivity systems. This role is essential to keeping production operations running, particularly where outages in radio communications, Wi-Fi, or network infrastructure can halt workflow.
The position is technical and infrastructure-focused, with an emphasis on radio systems, networking, systems administration and providing back-to-back support on a 7x7 roster.
Key Responsibilities:
Diagnose and resolve issues with digital UHF radio systems, including repeaters, duplexers, antenna systems, digital modes and RF interference.
Maintain and optimise radio communication systems, including diagnosing issues caused by environmental factors, equipment faults or configuration problems.
Work with suppliers and external specialists to resolve complex RF and radio equipment issues.
Network and Connectivity Support:
Troubleshoot and maintain network services to prevent and resolve outages that impact production.
Diagnose Wi-Fi connectivity issues, routing problems and switching-related faults.
Support and maintain network infrastructure including routing, switching, VLANs, DHCP, DNS, NAT, QoS and IP addressing.
Manage and troubleshoot firewalls (such as Sophos, Fortinet or Cisco), including rule sets, VPNs, policies and connectivity issues.
Server and Cloud Support:
Support Windows and Linux server environments including Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS/DHCP roles, file servers and general service management.
Assist with Microsoft Azure/Entra ID including virtual machines, networking configuration, backups, site-to-site VPNs and identity/access management.
Operational Support:
Provide back-to-back technical troubleshooting alongside the IT Manager.
Lead or assist with small technical projects from planning through deployment.
Liaise with vendors and service providers to resolve escalated or specialised issues.
Required Skills and Experience:
Experience working with digital UHF radio systems and RF diagnostics.
Solid understanding of networking principles including routing, switching and core network services.
Experience with firewalls and basic network security concepts.
Experience with Windows and Linux server administration.
Experience with Microsoft Azure or Entra ID.
