What's the role

The primary objective of the position is to work with colleagues, farmers and farm advisors to scope new carbon project opportunities and support existing projects serviced by Select Carbon. The role involves planning, implementing and monitoring crop and pasture agronomy and innovative grazing management techniques with landholders interested in registering or who have registered soil carbon projects.

This role combines subject‐matter expertise with project‐management skills to ensure soil carbon projects are well designed, integrated into whole‐farm systems, and support productivity and sustainability goals. The goal is to increase soil carbon sequestration through Eligible Management Activities (EMAs), meet carbon credit issuance requirements, and support farm productivity and profitability.

What you'll be doing

* Establish and maintain effective working relationships with farmers and their advisors.
* Work with farmers and their advisors to optimise performance of soil carbon projects and share project knowledge.
* Provide technical agronomy expertise to identify suitable EMAs and discuss integration into whole‐farm planning.
* Support and manage implementation and monitoring of EMAs through regular interactions and engagement with stakeholders including auditors and the Clean Energy Regulator.
* Identify better management of cropping, rotation, pasture, feedbase and grazing to achieve pasture performance, livestock production and soil carbon benefits.
* Collect and collate evidence of management activities for reports to third‐party auditors and the CER.

Other Major Responsibilities & Accountabilities

* Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance project delivery, reduce risks, improve efficiencies and strengthen landholder engagement.
* Engage regularly with regional landholders through travel, communication and fieldwork, ensuring SOP compliance and explaining carbon farming opportunities.
* Maintain accurate, professional project documentation and databases to support staff, landholders and auditors.
* Ensure full project compliance with methodologies, CER guidance, codes of conduct, HSSE standards and environmental expectations.
* Build and maintain communication with farmers, the CER, state agencies, community groups, NRM/LLS bodies and internal teams.
* Manage project risks, maximise performance and handle complex multi‐stakeholder environments by staying organised and meeting deadlines.

What you bring

* Tertiary qualifications in Agricultural Science, Agronomy, Animal Science, Rural Science or equivalent experience; proficiency in farm management software and (desirable) GIS tools such as ArcGIS/QGIS and GHG accounting.
* Experience in crop and pasture agronomy or livestock/feedbase management, strong understanding of Australian production systems and soil carbon dynamics.
* (Desirable) Knowledge of carbon farming, project development and ACCU Scheme methodologies.
* Strong communication, networking and collaboration skills for internal and external interactions.
* Operational requirements: driver's licence (manual and 4WD preferred), first‐aid training and ability to manage multiple priorities.
