Job Description

This engineering position requires a Bachelor of Engineering from an Australian institution, or a qualification gained elsewhere that satisfies the requirements of the Washington Accord for recognition as a Professional Engineer.

The ideal candidate will be able to meet the requirements of Chartered Professional Engineer (Engineers Australia), Registered Professional Engineer (Professionals Australia) or Fellow/Member of Royal Institution of Naval Architects.

1. Scope of Work:
2. Provide Hydrographic Authorised Materiel Seaworthiness Delivery Organisation (HAMSDO) with a dedicated resource to deliver three Safety Case Reports:
o Hydrographic Survey (HS) Vessel Safety Case Report;
o Survey Motor Launch (SML) Safety Case Report;
o Survey Motor Boat (SMB) Safety Case Report.
3. Review and update Safety Case Reports to present the argument that the HS/SML/SMB System is safe for continued operations.
4. Demonstrate how the HS/SML/SMB Safety Management System currently identifies and manages risks so far as reasonably practicable (SFARP).

Key Responsibilities:

1. Create a Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and schedule for updating Safety Case Reports within one month of engagement.
2. Review existing goals and sub-goals of Safety Case Reports, assign new or modified goals as required, and submit proposed goals for review.
3. Use CASG Procedure (E&T) 12-8-028 to guide revised content of Safety Case Reports and self-assigned tasks.
4. Collectively workshop a revision to the Formal Safety Assessment of existing Safety Case Reports with HAMSDO, HSPO, and HISSC personnel.

Working Relationships:

* Supervision of Defence Seaworthiness requirements;
* HSPO Engineering Department staff;
* Navy Technical Bureau Staff Technical Support Network;
* HMGRP CM-R, Engineering and Technical staff, including ship crews Customer;
* In-Service Support Contract (ISSC) management & staff delivery of the engineering program;
* Reporting directly to the Engineering Program Manager (EPM).
