What you'll do * Provide professional leadership and managerial support to staff working in the midwifery program. * Provide authoritative advice and support to midwifery colleagues and other key stakeholders. * Apply the principles of succession management and mentoring to engage staff in ongoing career development, growth, and lifelong learning. * Work collaboratively with a range of stakeholders in Queensland, Nationally and Internationally (where appropriate) including other Government sectors and agencies, non-government organisations and private sector organisations to support integrated planning and service delivery, especially in area of need (e.g., rural/remote, Indigenous communities and maternity services). * Responsibilities: You are accountable for your own midwifery practice and are required to work to the standards established by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia for your midwifery practice. * You are responsible for applying those standards to midwifery work you undertake in contribution to development of strategy and policy. * You are accountable for application of corporate and clinical governance principles in relation to work within the office. * You are responsible for leading development and evaluating effectiveness of continuity improvement strategies within the midwifery profession and maternity system. * You are responsible for providing high level of strategic midwifery advice and policy direction within the department along with providing stewardship for implementation of work undertaken. About you We are searching for someone who: * Demonstrated ability to actively engage and seek input from clinical and professional stakeholders and professional bodies to actively inform and contribute to the priorities of OCMwO. * Demonstrated experience and knowledge of health care systems and priorities at the state, national and international levels. * Demonstrated ability to multi-task and prioritise complex issues, in a highly visible and politically sensitive sector, including high level written and verbal communication skills to ensure the ability to report to the Minister and/or Department leaders on a range of midwifery professional issues. * Demonstrated understanding of, and ability to, contribute to the development of parameters and metrics to measure the quality of midwifery practice and practice development.
