Supervisor Parks Maintenance – Central

Mackay Regional Council is seeking an experienced and motivated Supervisor Parks Maintenance to lead the delivery of high-quality maintenance services across our parks, open spaces, cemeteries and camping grounds.

This is a hands-on leadership role where you will supervise staff, coordinate programmed maintenance activities and minor projects, and ensure services are delivered safely, efficiently and in line with agreed service standards.

About the Role

Reporting to the Coordinator Parks Maintenance, you will be responsible for leading and managing a parks maintenance team to ensure the timely and effective completion of scheduled maintenance activities. You will provide technical advice, support operational planning, and foster a positive safety-focused team culture.

Key areas of responsibility include:

* Leading, supervising and supporting staff within the Parks Maintenance team
* Planning, scheduling and delivering programmed maintenance activities
* Coordinating and delivering minor projects
* Contributing to budget planning and operational process improvements
* Ensuring work is completed in accordance with service level agreements and standards
* Promoting workplace health and safety, wellbeing and psychological safety

About You

You are a practical and people-focused leader with strong horticulture knowledge and experience supervising teams in outdoor maintenance environments. You are confident coordinating work programs, managing competing priorities and dealing effectively with operational challenges.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:

Essential qualifications and licences:

* Qualification in Horticulture or a related field (degree preferred)
* QLD "C" Class Driver Licence (or ability to transfer interstate licence)
* General Construction Induction Training
* Chainsaw Level 2 Licence
* Elevating Work Platform High Risk Licence

Essential experience and skills:

* Experience leading and managing a team
* Practical experience planning, scheduling and delivering maintenance programs and minor projects
* Strong interpersonal, communication and problem-solving skills
* Sound understanding of workplace health and safety obligations
* Ability to operate and maintain a range of plant and equipment
* Well-developed computer skills, including Microsoft Office

Desirable:

* Business, leadership or management qualifications
* Chainsaw Level 3, ACDC Weed Spraying or MR Licence
* Experience contributing to budgets, procedures and continuous improvement initiatives

This role involves participation in an on-call roster, regular local travel and physical work in outdoor environments. The successful candidate will be required to undertake a comprehensive pre-employment medical with instant drug & alcohol screening.
