Primary objective

Develop, implement and administer the Southern Region Crown Land Estate management program, balancing community and

Government expectations for the level of maintenance, cleanliness and accessibility of Crown land within budgetary and

environmental constraints.

Key duties and responsibilities

1. Develop, implement and administer an effective Crown Land Estate management program which balances community and

Government expectations for the level of maintenance, cleanliness and accessibility of Crown land within budgetary and

environmental constraints.

1. Provide policy and procedural advice to senior management, the Minister, other government agencies and the public regarding

the management and maintenance of vacant Crown land in the Southern region.

1. Manage the preparation and letting of contracts and tenders for Crown land maintenance including overseeing the allocation

of works to and management of contractors and review their performance.

1. Assist the Crown Land Estate team in the management of Crown leases and other Crown lands projects as required in

accordance with the Crown Lands Act 1992.

Selection criteria

Essential

1. Demonstrated ability to provide policy and procedural advice to senior management, the Minister, other government agencies

and the public regarding the management and maintenance of land.

1. Demonstrated high level oral and written communication skills with demonstrated experience in negotiating in the private and

public sectors on sensitive, confidential and complex issues.

3. Demonstrated ability to interact effectively with people of diverse cultures, implement and maintain a strong client and service

focus.

4. High level project and contract management skills along with sound research and analytical skills and flexibility in problem

solving in a complex environment.

1. Demonstrated ability, to understand and interpret legislation as well as a sound knowledge of, or the ability to quickly acquire

knowledge of, the Crown Lands Act 1992 together with a well-developed understanding of other legislation related to

responsibilities as a landowner and the business and legal procedures associated with Crown land management.

1. Proficiency in information technology and its effectiveness in enhancing service delivery, as well as knowledge of, or the ability

to quickly acquire knowledge of, associated office and land administration (e.g. ILIS) or similar software.

1. An understanding of Work Health and Safety matters as they apply to a workplace or the ability to acquire knowledge within a

short period.

1. Current NT Drivers licence or ability to obtain and ability to undertake intra-state travel within the Southern Region to deliver

Crown Land Estate management programs.
