About the business and the role
Ambient Services Group is a leading commercial asset maintenance provider servicing metropolitan Sydney. We operate behind the scenes within some of the city's most prominent commercial buildings, delivering long‐term facilities maintenance solutions, strategic asset management and responsive technical services.
* Projects: Design, construction and major mechanical services projects.
* Service: Planned maintenance, reactive service and integrated facilities management.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Management
* Prepare monthly management reports including P&L, Balance Sheets and Cashflow Forecasts.
* Assist with annual budgets and financial planning.
* Monitor business performance and provide commercial insights to management.
* Prepare financial analysis and reporting for Directors.
* Manage relationships with external accountants, banks and advisors.
* Ensure compliance with all statutory and regulatory requirements.
Accounts
* Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable functions.
* Manage debtor collections and supplier payments.
* Perform bank, credit card and balance sheet reconciliations.
* Manage payroll and associated compliance obligations.
* Prepare and lodge BAS, PAYG and Superannuation requirements.
* Maintain the integrity of financial data and accounting systems.
Project & Service Division Support
* Monitor project profitability and work‐in‐progress (WIP).
* Assist with revenue recognition and progress claim reporting.
* Support Project Managers and Service Managers with financial reporting.
* Analyse job performance and identify opportunities to improve profitability.
* Manage cashflow forecasting across both divisions.
About You
The ideal candidate will possess:
* Minimum 5 years' experience in a Finance Manager, Financial Controller or Senior Accounting role.
* Strong understanding of accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll functions.
* Experience preparing management accounts and financial reports.
* Advanced Xero and Microsoft Excel skills.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
* Strong commercial acumen and attention to detail.
* Ability to operate autonomously and take ownership of outcomes.
Highly Desirable
* Experience within construction, building services, facilities maintenance or project‐based businesses.
* Understanding of progress claims, WIP reporting, subcontractor management and project accounting.
* CPA or CA qualification (or working towards).
