About The Role
The purpose of the role is to provide front line customer service by assisting customers with the use of waste disposal and recovery facilities, providing direction and advice, encouraging waste diversion, and assisting to resolve queries. Services at the facility include, but not limited to - customer service, litter management, supervision of recycling processes, maintenance of signage, maintenance of hazardous waste collection sheds, supervision of the public at the Transfer Station, operation of the Gatehouse, operation of plant and any other duties as required for the operation of the facility.
The position will also provide support to the Collection Section (Operating Waste Collection Vehicle – Sidearm) and Gatehouse Operations when directed by the Supervisor in the case of emergencies, sick and annual leave.
This role is located on Magnetic Island and will be required to participate in rostered weekend work as required.
Hours of Work
Week 1 - Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 8am to 1pm (5hrs/day), Start and finish times negotiable
Week 2 - Tuesday, 7am to 4pm (8.50hrs/day), Monday, Wednesday, Friday, 8am to 1pm (5hrs/day), Start and finish times negotiable for Monday, Wednesday and Friday only
About You
Mandatory requirements include:
* Current "HR" class driver's licence
* Front End Loader Ticket (LL)
Other Requirements Include
* Excellent customer service skills.
* Ability to operate, maintain and clean transfer station, associated facilities, and storage locations to a high standard.
* Assist customers to utilize facilities to maximise waste diversion and enhance resource recovery.
* Computer skills as required to operate weighbridge software and associated technology.
* Working knowledge of the operating requirements of selected waste disposal plant and associated operational checks.
* Licensed and competent in operation of heavy plant such as front-end loader to enable pushing/loading of stockpiles on site.
* Demonstrated experience in the waste management/disposal industry.
