About The Role
You will play a vital role in ensuring the safety and well-being of young people during nighttime hours. This dynamic position requires you to be on-call, ready to respond to critical incidents and provide immediate assistance when needed.
As an after-hours support worker, you will deliver phone support to youth workers across different residential care homes, guiding them through challenging situations and offering practical advice to manage incidents effectively.
In addition to phone support, you will drive to various residential care homes to provide in-person support, assess situations, and offer hands-on assistance during after-hours incidents.
Throughout your shift, you will handle high-pressure situations with professionalism, compassion, and a strong commitment to safeguarding the well-being of each individual.
Key Selection Criteria
* A minimum qualification requirement for this position is a Diploma of Youth Work, Community Services or equivalent.
* Aboriginal staff - a qualification is desirable but experience and willingness to participate in training is essential.
* Demonstrated skills and experience in youth services, residential care or supported accommodation.
* Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values, along with an awareness of current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people and their families.
* Demonstrated experience working therapeutically with children and young people who have experienced significant challenges and trauma.
