**About the role**
We have an opportunity for an experienced Category Manager to join the team and provide support and direction in areas such as supply market management and development, strategic planning and execution, and contract and risk management activities.
Responsibilities include:
- Supporting and executing category plans and sourcing strategies.
- Identifying and managing risks to minimise negative impacts on objectives.
- Leading sourcing activities
- Leading negotiations on supply arrangements and contract issues.
- Providing expert advice on all aspects of procurement
**Knowledge, Experience & Skills**
Category Expertise
- Demonstrated experience in strategic sourcing activities
Strategic Procurement
- Ability to contribute to the strategic direction of the procurement function and to implements strategies at a local stakeholder level
Procurement Analysis
- Highly developed analytics, evaluation and research skills with the experience in analysis business needs and supply markets
Strategic Sourcing
- Demonstrated experience in leading sourcing activities
- Demonstrated ability to lead evaluation teams
- Ability to participate and input in industry supplier and customer forums focussed on the category
Commercial Negotiations
- Demonstrated ability to develop robust negotiation plans with business partners for complex procurement negotiations
- Demonstrated ability to lead negotiations for large complex categories, with multiple stakeholders delivering increased value and decreased risk.
- Demonstrated ability to co-ordinate and negotiate the development of bespoke agreements to meet new business needs.
Procurement Risk Management
- Demonstrated experience on the management of commercial, contractual, operational, financial, reputational, ethical and supply chain risks, including the appropriate allocation of these risks in the contracts
- Relationship Management & People Skills
- Demonstrated ability to influence stakeholders and suppliers, to deliver better procurement outcomes for an organization.
- Ability to build robust business relationship quickly
- Ability to manage stakeholder expectations
**You will bring to the role**
- Relevant experience in a Category Management, Procurement or Contract Specialist role
- Relevant tertiary qualifications desirable but not essential
- CIPS qualifications desirable but not essential
- Experience in leading strategic sourcing activities
- Ability to contribute to the strategic direction of the procurement function
- Capacity to develop robust detailed spend models including Total Cost of Ownership, and risk modelling.
- Highly developed analytical, evaluation and research skills with experience in analysing business needs and supply markets.
- Capacity to participate in industry supplier and customer forums focused on the category.
- Ability to develop robust negotiation plans and lead complex procurement negotiations and develop bespoke agreements.
- Experience in the management of risks including the appropriate allocation of these risks in the contracts.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and influencing skills.
