At WSP, we're shaping the future of infrastructure, communities and environments across Australia and the globe. As our business continues to grow, we're looking for a Financial Accountant to join our Enterprise Finance team in Sydney and play a key role in supporting our Australian operations.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong accountant who enjoys working in a complex, multinational environment and wants exposure to both local and global finance processes.
The role
Reporting to the Financial Controller, you'll support core accounting and reporting activities across the Australian business, while collaborating closely with global finance teams. Your work will span general accounting, month‐end close, statutory reporting, audit support and process improvement.
Key responsibilities include:
* Preparing accurate journal entries, reconciliations and balance sheet analysis
* Supporting month‐end close, including payroll, fixed assets and accruals
* Assisting with management, statutory and SOX‐compliant reporting
* Preparing Hyperion submissions for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting to WSP Global
* Acting as a key contact for internal and external audit queries
* Supporting treasury, workers compensation and compliance reporting
* Identifying opportunities to improve accounting processes and systems
About you
You're detail‐oriented, proactive and comfortable working to tight deadlines in a structured finance environment. You enjoy collaborating across teams and can confidently explain financial information to a range of stakeholders.
You'll bring:
* A degree in Accounting
* CA or CPA qualification (or near completion)
* Around 3+ years' experience in accounting (practice, commercial, or a mix of both)
* Working knowledge of IFRS/AASB and general accounting principles
* Experience with large ERP and reporting systems (Oracle, SAP, Hyperion, TM1 or similar)
* Strong Excel skills and a high level of accuracy
* Clear communication skills and a collaborative mindset
