About the role:

As a Facilities Technician, you'll play a key role in maintaining the overall functionality, safety, and cleanliness of our student community. From responding to maintenance requests to executing preventative maintenance, your day-to-day will help ensure our residents enjoy a secure, welcoming, and well-kept environment.

This is a permanent part time role working 19 hours per week, with working days flexible and of your choosing.

Key responsibilities:

* Respond to maintenance requests and carry out timely repairs across apartments, common areas, and building systems.
* Support the make-ready process by inspecting vacated units, completing repair tasks, and preparing for new residents.
* Perform regular inspections and preventative maintenance across all essential systems — including lighting, fire safety, HVAC, and plumbing.
* Ensure statutory compliance is met and documented, including emergency lighting, alarms, and safety systems.
* Maintain grounds and common areas to Greystar's high cleanliness and presentation standards.
* Monitor and supervise contractors and suppliers on site, ensuring safety and service quality.
* Track inventory usage and assist with reordering tools, equipment, and supplies.
* Provide professional, friendly service to residents, addressing maintenance concerns with care and urgency.
* Be part of an on-call rotation for after-hours emergencies.
* Assist in routine property inspections and report building or safety concerns to management.

To be successful in this role, you should have skills including:

* Demonstrated experience in building maintenance or trades (e.g. electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting) — preferably in residential, hotel, or student accommodation settings.
* Qualifications or experience in electrical, mechanical engineering, plumbing, or HVAC highly regarded but not essential
* Physical requirements
* including ability to carry up to 12kgs independently, climb ladders, bend, sit / stand / walk for extended periods.
* Knowledge of health and safety risks (manual handling, site safety, chemicals, trip hazards).
* Computer proficiency (Microsoft Office & database management)
* Effective communication and teamwork skills.
* Helpful and friendly manner, professional and courteous with both residents and colleagues.
* Ability to obtain a favourable National Criminal History Check and Working with Children check.
