About Us
EnergyAustralia's mandate is clear: Deliver safe, reliable, and cost-effective energy to our customers while optimising the value of our asset portfolio.
As part of this mission, we focus on ensuring reliable energy production from our power station assets.
The Maintenance team plays a critical role in optimising the generation process at Yallourn Power Station.
About the opportunity
EnergyAustralia is now offering the opportunity for an 2nd Year Apprentice Boilermaker to join and elevate their skills in the Power Industry.
Due to Yallourn's closure in mid-2028, we must appoint a 2nd year apprentice for commencement in January 2026, so that your apprenticeship completion can be guaranteed prior to Yallourn's closure.
This is a great opportunity to continue your Boilermaker apprenticeship in a hands-on, supportive environment.
You'll be working on a variety of welding, fabrication, and structural projects while learning from experienced tradespeople.
During this period, you will rotate through the power station and mine maintenance teams, completing trade training through both TAFE Gippsland and site-based work.
You will gain the opportunity to learn and perform a range of repairs, installations and maintenance on plant, equipment, and machinery within the Power Station.
All work and development is performed under the strict supervision and guidance of qualified trade employees and includes modules of learning through an accredited external provider.
We are looking for someone who has the following
- You will successfully complete your first year of a Boilermaker apprenticeship in 2025 and will be going into your second year in 2026.
- A technical aptitude. This will be assessed during the process by aptitude testing and review of 1st year TAFE assessment results
- A commitment to undertake and complete formal training at TAFE
- Demonstrated safety awareness and practical aptitude
- OHS Construction Induction, or a willingness to obtain it
- Is passionate about the trade and eager to develop their skills
- Is safety-conscious, punctual, and a team player
- Has a strong work ethic, excellent communication, and interpersonal skills
- Holds a current driver's license (preferred but not essential)
- Preference will be given to local applicants living within 45 minutes of the power station
Applications
All applications should include a brief cover letter, resume, and TAFE reports from the first year and any current certificates.
For health and safety reasons around travelling and fatigue management, applicants must reside within 45 minutes' drive of Yallourn Power Station.
