**YOUR NEW ROLE**:
This position will support, influence, develop and guide the GTO IM Wacol operations in relation to all Safety, Health & Wellbeing matters. It provides leadership, guidance and development of the Safety, Health & Wellbeing department to support GTO IM Wacol Plant in its safety journey and develop, execute, and realise the Volvo Group's safety strategy to become an organization with active care mindset.
- Key Responsibilities_
- Ensure and improve the safety culture across the GTO Brisbane sites.
- Coach and inspire our people towards an active care organization
- Lead and develop Safety, Health and Wellbeing resources and competence
- Support, coach, and mentor the Safety team
- Together with the safety team, coach and inspire our people towards an active care organization
- Develop safe work practices, procedures, and policies
- Contribute to strategic risk management and compliance activities, including ongoing risk identification and mitigation
- Ensure key legislative requirements are met and changes to legislation are communicated-ensure Safety compliance
- Work and liaise with the National SHEQ Manager and team in relation to Volvo Group Australia national policies and practices
- Work and liaise with GTO/IM Safety network
- Provide expert advice to the Wacol Management Team in all areas of SHEWB regarding legal requirements, legislation changes and business risks
- Management Responsibilities_

Business/ Financial Management:

- Plan, allocate and manage relevant budget/s
- Allocate capital and manage expenditure
- Report on operations according to company timelines and standards
- Effectively manage and allocate assets and company property
- Manage and report on business performance
- People Management_
- Plan, set and communicate team direction
- Ensure clarity of expectations through accurate job profiles and objectives
- Meet company timelines for performance and development planning
- Coach, mentor, and counsel staff to enhance performance and mitigate issues / conflicts
- Increase capability and provide learning and development opportunities
- Discuss and formalise career plans
- Enhance engagement and effectively manage attrition
- Recruit new team members in conjunction with the Director and ensure adequate and timely resourcing
- Develop a robust succession plan, including cross-skilling
- Manage salary/wages in conjunction with Director
- Health & Safety_
- Ensure a culture of safe working and a protected work environment for all staff
- Raise concerns or actively address any health and safety issue identified
- Follow all instructions given for working safely
- Identify and report all hazards, incidents, injuries & near misses immediately
- Report for work in a protected manner, unaffected by drugs and/or alcohol
- Protect own safety and health and not adversely affect the safety and health of others
- At all times wear safety equipment provided for the job task or area
- Do not misuse or tamper with the safe use of equipment
- Promote wellbeing and health in your team by supporting positive work/life choices, having an awareness of mental health and other health issues, and understanding support networks
- Risk Management and Compliance_
- Manage risk and compliance in area, including ongoing identification of material risks
- Monitor and ensure adequate risk management and compliance processes are in place
- Contribute to strategic risk management and compliance activities, including ongoing risk identification and mitigation
- Ensure that senior management and your team have a good understanding of the material risks
- Implement and monitor controls to manage risk
- Maintain and oversee all systems o
