General Manager Infrastructure
As Southern Launch continues to build Australia’s sovereign launch capability, the General Manager – Infrastructure ensures the critical infrastructure enabling our missions is strategically planned, expertly delivered and built to scale with our future.
This role is central to shaping and delivering the infrastructure that underpins launch operations, from early planning and investment decisions through to construction, integration and ongoing asset management. It ensures our infrastructure is reliable, compliant and ready to support operational excellence across multiple sites.
Working closely with executive leadership, operational teams and external partners, the General Manager – Infrastructure leads infrastructure strategy, capital delivery and asset performance, ensuring infrastructure supports both immediate mission requirements and long-term organisational growth.
This role will see your everyday work directly enable Australia’s access to space — building the infrastructure that makes launch possible.
Reporting to the Chief Ranges & Infrastructure, the General Manager – Infrastructure responsibilities will be:
* Develop and execute long-term infrastructure strategy aligned to organisational growth and mission requirements
* Lead the full lifecycle of infrastructure projects, from feasibility and design through to construction, commissioning and operational handover
* Manage a portfolio of concurrent infrastructure projects across multiple sites, ensuring delivery on scope, schedule, budget and risk targets
* Own and manage infrastructure CAPEX and OPEX budgets, including business cases, forecasting and commercial performance
* Lead procurement activities, including tendering, contract negotiation and supplier commercial management
* Apply systems engineering principles to integrate civil, structural, electrical, mechanical, utilities and operational systems
* Lead and develop multidisciplinary infrastructure and project delivery teams, fostering a high-performance and safety-focused culture
* Manage contractors, consultants, suppliers and key stakeholders, including regulators and operational teams
* Implement lifecycle asset management practices to ensure infrastructure remains safe, reliable and fit for purpose
* Ensure compliance with regulatory, environmental, safety and building standards, and oversee risk and governance frameworks
* Oversee infrastructure documentation, technical records and knowledge management to support operational readiness and continuity
About You:
* Must be an Australian citizen.
* Qualifications in Engineering, Construction Management, Architecture or a related field
* Extensive experience delivering complex infrastructure or capital works programs
* Strong leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams and major projects
* Proven experience managing CAPEX budgets, contracts and commercial performance
* Strong understanding of infrastructure systems integration and operational environments
* Experience working within regulated, safety-critical or high-reliability industries
* Highly organised, strategic thinker with strong delivery focus
* Comfortable working in regional and remote environments
* Passion for building infrastructure that enables meaningful capability and long-term impact
