Role Summary
The Bakery Manager is responsible for the efficient and fiscally responsible operation of the department. The role involves leading, coaching, motivating, and training staff to deliver exceptional customer service while adhering to all food safety protocols, standard operating procedures, health and safety policies, and corporate initiatives.
Responsibilities
* People Leadership – create a coaching and development culture; serve as a role‐model for all employees; manage direct reports through selection, orientation, training, performance management, succession planning, and compensation.
* Communicate operational requirements and changes to department employees.
* Customer Offering – create engaging shopping experiences; provide superior customer service; demonstrate exceptional product knowledge; manage product ordering, receiving, organizing, rotating, merchandising, and presentation in accordance with company standards.
* Policy & Regulatory Adherence – lead implementation of corporate policies and SOPs; ensure compliance with OH&S, food safety, and other regulatory requirements; submit required documentation timely and accurately.
* Financial – align with budget to achieve financial targets, maximize sales and margins, perform sales forecasting, variance analysis, correction, and labour‐cost control.
* Professional Development – stay current on company programs, industry trends, competitor activity, and make pricing and promotional recommendations.
* Employee Engagement – support an environment of high engagement; initiate and participate in community and charitable events.
* Other Duties – coordinate equipment maintenance and repairs; provide continuous improvement feedback; maintain a clean and safe working environment.
