Role Overview: Nurse Practitioner – MM3 DPA Clinic, Mount Gambier
Location & Clinic Context
* Situated in a DPA (District of Workforce Shortage) and MM3-classified regional setting, with the clinic serving an expansive patient base and offering flexibility in billing (often mixed billing at around 60–65%)
* The practice is established, often servicing around 12,000 patients, includes onsite nursing support, allied health, pathology, and offers strong administrative infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
* Advanced Clinical Practice: Perform comprehensive health assessments, diagnose and manage a range of acute and chronic conditions within endorsed scope, order pathology and imaging, prescribe medications, and develop treatment plans.
* Collaborative Practice: Work within a documented Collaborative Practice Arrangement with medical practitioners to ensure Medicare rebate eligibility and PBS prescription validation Wikipedia.
* Patient Management: Oversee patient follow-ups, care coordination, and recall/reminder systems; manage long‑term conditions aligned with current national guidelines
* Clinical Leadership & Quality Improvement: Contribute to quality improvement initiatives, evidence-based practice, and practice accreditation processes (e.g., AGPAL, RACGP standards).
* Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Liaise with onsite allied health professionals and nursing staff to deliver holistic patient care and support team workflows.
* Extended Scope & Preventative Health: Provide health education, preventive services, and leadership in nurse uptake of expanded roles.
Required Qualifications & Competencies
* AHPRA Registration: Current RN registration with endorsement as a Nurse Practitioner.
* Education & Experience: Postgraduate qualification (Master's or equivalent) in advanced clinical practice, with a minimum of ~5,000 hours of advanced nursing practice to meet endorsement requirements WikipediaJobs and Skills Australia.
* Clinical & Leadership Skills: High-level clinical reasoning, autonomy in care decisions, strong communication, and negotiation skills
* Regulatory Knowledge: Familiarity with relevant legislation (NMBA/NMBA standards), Medicare/PBS processes, and collaborative care agreements.
* Insurance: Adequate professional indemnity insurance in line with registration standards.
Desirable Attributes
* General Practice Experience: Familiarity with rural/regional general practice settings or DPA clinics.
* Accreditation & Quality Systems: Experience with accreditation Australia-wide (e.g. AGPAL, RACGP).
* Cultural Competence: Understanding local health contexts, including regional patient needs and cultural considerations.
* Quality Improvement Orientation: Involvement in developing clinical protocols, participating in audits, and embedding practice-wide improvements.

Pay: $95.00 – $105.00 per hour
