Job Description:
This is a part-time Housing/Shelter Support Worker position available at our facility. The ideal candidate will have a diploma in a related human/social service field and one year of recent experience in a similar role.
The successful candidate will work independently, showing initiative and creativity, while collaborating positively with residents, shelter users, and community contacts. They will be able to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and respond promptly to radio calls in a professional manner.
The job involves providing support to residents and shelter users, assisting with daily tasks, and maintaining a safe and welcoming environment. The Housing/Shelter Support Worker will also participate in the development and implementation of intervention plans, evaluate their effectiveness, and discuss related concerns with supervisors.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist residents with daily tasks, such as laundry and meal distribution
* Develop and implement short-term intervention plans to address specific issues
* Evaluate the effectiveness of intervention plans and report on client progress
* Maintain accurate records and statistics for reporting purposes
* Liaise with partner agencies and professionals to provide comprehensive support
Requirements:
* Diploma in a related human/social service field
* One year of recent experience in a similar role
* Basic computer skills with knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
* Training in non-violent crisis intervention techniques and harm reduction approach
Working Conditions:
This is a part-time position working one 12-hour shift per week (Wednesday, 7pm to 7am). The hourly rate is between $27.54 and $31.61, plus an extra $1 per hour for working overnight shifts, plus 5% in lieu of paid holidays.
