Administrative Coordinator
Job Description:
The Administrative Coordinator will provide administrative support to unit-based and hospital-wide clinicians and staff in an inpatient setting. The ideal candidate will function as a liaison between the patient, visitors, and clinicians.
Key responsibilities include organizing priorities, completing tasks on time, and managing confidential patient information.
Additionally, the Administrative Coordinator will partner with nursing to coordinate day-to-day patient flow, including communication to key personnel regarding patient admissions, discharges, and transfers.
Essential Functions:
1. Perform clerical duties to assist in the administration of the floor or unit.
2. Interact with patients, families, visitors, and coworkers professionally, in person and via communication tools.
3. Receive, prioritize, organize, and manage information at the central nursing station and throughout the unit.
4. Schedule consultations, tests, procedures, and patient transports to other departments.
5. Enter accurate and timely information about admissions, discharges, and transfers into electronic medical records to facilitate efficient patient throughput.
6. Contact ancillary service departments to obtain equipment, services, and supplies; track their status and location.
7. Use designated processes for identifying and facilitating repairs.
8. May assist the manager with payroll duties, staff scheduling, or supervision of unit secretaries.
Qualifications:
* High School Diploma or Equivalent required; Associate's Degree in a related field preferred.
* Customer Service experience in related or unrelated fields preferred.
* Proficiency with office procedures and equipment (filing, copying, scanning, printing, faxing).
* Proficiency in MS Office.
* Ability to proofread and edit documents.
* Ability to use phone systems.
* Excellent time management skills.
* Strong verbal and written communication skills.
* Strong interpersonal skills.
* Familiarity with medical terminology.
