About the role
As a Senior Diagnostic Technician, you will play a key role in supporting workshop efficiency and technical excellence.
You'll be the go-to expert for advanced diagnostics, complex repairs, and technical problem-solving, while upholding BMW and Jowett Motor Group standards.
Key responsibilities
Perform advanced diagnostics, repairs, maintenance, and component replacements in line with BMW OEM and JMG standards
Accurately diagnose complex electrical, mechanical, and drivability issues using BMW diagnostic systems and tools
Carry out quality control checks, road tests, and ensure repairs are completed to a premium standard
Support and mentor technicians and apprentices, sharing knowledge and best practices
Liaise with Service Advisors and Workshop Controllers to provide clear technical explanations and repair recommendations
Ensure warranty repairs and parts are correctly identified, tagged, and documented
Maintain accurate repair orders, diagnostic reports, and requisition orders
Follow all safety, environmental, and housekeeping standards to maintain an organised workshop
Keep up to date with BMW technical bulletins, software updates, and emerging technologies (including EV and hybrid systems where applicable)
About you
You'll bring:
Proven experience as a Diagnostic or Senior Technician within a premium automotive dealership (BMW experience highly regarded)
Strong diagnostic capability with modern vehicle systems and electronic test equipment
A methodical, solution-focused approach to fault finding
The ability to work independently while supporting the wider workshop team
Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship
A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and pride in your craft
Relevant trade qualifications and a valid driver's licence
