HorizonOne are excited to be partnering with Icon Water to recruit new team members into their Finance & Strategy Group.
About Icon Water
Wholly owned by the ACT Government, Icon Water has delivered essential services to Canberra for over 100 years. While primarily a water and sewerage provider, it also invests in electricity and gas through private partnerships, operating across both government and commercial sectors. Icon Water is focused on sustainability, playing a key role in addressing climate change, protecting the environment, and achieving net zero emissions by 2045.
Serving approximately 190,000 customers, the business manages over $3.2 billion in assets—including dams, treatment plants, reservoirs, and networks of mains and pumps—and generates around $490 million in annual revenue.
The Opportunity
A rare opportunity in Canberra to step into a role within one of the most important organisations in the ACT and surrounding regions. This position sits within the Financial Governance and Accounting team and reports to the Senior Accounts Payable Officer.
You will join a team of high performers that is friendly and supportive. The organisation, along with your manager, will invest in you and support your long-term growth.
If you are passionate about accounts payable work and want to be part of a high-performing environment within an organisation that has a real impact on the community, this could be the role for you.
The Role
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to:
* Maintain and update supplier master data in the ERP system, including pre-onboarding checks
* Manage shared inboxes, ensuring invoices, statements and queries are actioned promptly
* Respond to supplier enquiries via phone and email in a professional and timely manner
* Process invoices (pre- and post-registration), including optical character recognition exceptions and data validation
* Code and process manual payments (e.g. utilities, tax, Amex, government charges, reimbursements)
* Reconcile supplier statements to ensure accuracy and completeness of records
* Investigate and resolve supplier discrepancies in collaboration with stakeholders
* Support payment runs, remittances and period-end accounts payable activities
* Assist with expense reimbursements and corporate card acquittals, providing guidance to staff
* Contribute to process improvements, documentation, and ongoing AP controls and compliance
The Ideal Person
Ideally, you will have at least three years' experience in end-to-end accounts payable.
You will have experience working with large ERP systems such as Oracle, SAP, TechnologyOne, and similar systems. You are comfortable working in a high-performing environment, particularly during busy periods, and can manage competing priorities effectively.
You are most likely outgoing and confident, and you enjoy communicating with internal stakeholders across the organisation, responding to queries related to payments and systems, and liaising with suppliers to resolve invoicing or related issues quickly and professionally.
Most importantly, you bring a positive attitude, strong attention to detail, and a proactive approach. You are willing to step in and support the team outside BAU when required, and you are always looking for ways to improve processes and outcomes.
Salary / Rate
