**About the role**
As the Procurement Category Manager, you are responsible for the short to long term procurement decisions which meet operational requirements whilst minimising contract risk and maximising value for money.
Key to this position is your ability to develop procurement initiatives within the procurement category manager's market scope which will include working with the stakeholders to understand requirements, demand, analysis of the market, supplier engagement, establishment of contractual and commercial arrangements and ongoing supplier performance management, monitoring and reporting.
**Responsibilities include but are not limited to**:
- Develop category strategies in collaboration with the stakeholders, gaining senior management approval;
- Review market pricing structures and establish commercial frameworks that create transparency across services and trades, for the established scope;
- Lead in the development and execution of strategic initiatives both internally and externally as they relate to efficient and effective procurement best practices;
- Assist in the development, maintenance and adherence to all approved procurement processes and procedures;
- Provide guidance and support to other team members;
- Lead and support team members with Procurement training provided to internal stakeholders; and
- Develop contract management plans and strategies ensuring all parts of the business are considered, such as AIC.
**About you**
**Essential**:
- Extensive experience in a procurement category management including creating category plans and delivering to senior executives for approval within a similar sub-contractor, manufacturing, aviation or oil & gas industries;
- Leadership skills to be able to inspire and motivate others to drive business outcomes;
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to balance conflicting priorities;
- Superior interpersonal, negotiation, influencing and stakeholder management skills;
- Superior communication skills; both written and verbal;
- Strong procurement systems, operational, financial and reporting understanding;
- Demonstrated ability to work proactively and independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow through within a fast-paced environment with multiple competing demands; and
- Knowledge of contract terms and conditions and experience in negotiation of commercial contracts.
**Desirable**:
- Relevant Tertiary Qualification or working towards qualification;
- Professional membership from a relevant procurement/contracting association would be advantageous;
- Proven experience working with environmental, social and governance environment;
- Though NOT essential, prior experience of Government contracts or within the Defence sector is desirable.
**Essential Compliance Requirements**:
- Must either hold or be eligible to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance.
