About the Role
BMD is in a significant growth phase with a strong project pipeline. We are seeking a Project Manager to join the Constructions business unit based in Brisbane. The role will initially focus on Pre-Contracts assisting with project bids across transport, defence and renewable energy sectors. Upon award, the role transitions into a delivery-focused position in Brisbane or across Queensland under FIFO conditions. You will mentor a full engineering and supervisory team, provide onsite engineering services and ensure safety, environmental, design, specification and contractual requirements are met. You will have exposure to infrastructure projects across diverse sectors in metropolitan and regional locations.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with responsibilities including mentoring teams and contributing to pre-contracts and tender phases, identifying risks and opportunities.
Responsibilities
- Mentor and develop engineering and site teams to achieve creative solutions.
- Provide onsite engineering services and technical support to meet safety, environmental, specification, design and contract requirements.
- Contribute to pre-contracts and tender activities to identify risks and opportunities.
- Manage projects across transport, defence and renewable energy sectors, with delivery oversight in Brisbane or across Queensland (FIFO as required).
- Apply advanced knowledge of project planning, cost control, scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and contract administration.
- Ensure high-level communication and stakeholder management with clients, subcontractors and internal teams.
- Promote safety, environmental management and quality assurance in project delivery.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering or related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years’ experience in civil infrastructure project delivery, including at least 3 years in a project management role.
- Proven experience delivering projects for major tier one or tier two contractors.
- Experience managing projects within the transport, defence or renewable energy sectors (DTMR project experience highly desired).
- Strong leadership and team management skills with the ability to mentor and develop engineering and site teams.
- Advanced knowledge of project planning, cost control and scheduling software (e.g., Primavera P6, MS Project) and contract administration.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- Proactive approach to safety, environmental management and quality assurance.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to contribute to pre-contracts and tender phases, identifying risks and opportunities.
- Willingness to work on projects across metropolitan and regional Queensland as required.
