About Us

The Diocese of Ballarat Catholic Education Limited governs 56 Catholic primary and secondary schools across Western Victoria.

About the Role

This full‐time parental leave replacement position offers the opportunity to work in an interdisciplinary manner across a variety of educational settings, collaborating with highly motivated colleagues from the Wellbeing Team. The Speech Pathology Team follows Speech Pathology Australia recommendations and uses a range of practice models including tele‐practice. The Speech Pathologist works collaboratively with the broader Catholic Education Team and schools to promote inclusive practices and strengthen the ability to identify and effectively support students with diverse learning requirements.

Key Responsibilities

* Assess and diagnose speech, language, and literacy‐related needs of students, providing clear, evidence‐based recommendations.
* Collaborate with teachers, school leaders, and learning support staff to develop and review personalised learning plans and participate in PSGs.
* Contribute to diocesan speech initiatives, including foundation screening, data analysis, and MTSS‐informed responses across schools.
* Support school‐based speech programs, deliver professional learning, and maintain accurate documentation in line with professional and legal standards.

Key Selection Criteria

* Tertiary qualification in Speech Pathology with eligibility for full SPA membership.
* Demonstrated experience delivering evidence‐based, innovative speech pathology practice.
* Robust communication, problem‐solving and teamwork skills, with high professionalism.
* Demonstrated understanding of Catholic ethos and its application to collaborative, inclusive support for students and families.
