Primary Objective
Provide technical and administrative support to the teachers in the science laboratories, including the preparation of laboratories
for practical lessons in accordance with Work Health and Safety Guidelines.
Context Statement
Katherine High School is the only government secondary school in Katherine. It provides an educational service to students from
Year 7 to Year 12. In the Senior Years students are provided with multiple achievement pathways to ensure they receive the
education most appropriate to their needs. The school caters to a diverse population from a range of different social, educational,
and diverse cultural backgrounds. Katherine High School has an offsite program, Katherine Flexible Learning and Engagement
Centre and provides an alternate program for disengaged and at-risk teenagers in the Katherine area. The school takes great

Key Duties and Responsibilities
1. Maintain, prepare, and clean up equipment, chemicals and apparatuses for lessons and experiments.
2. Responsible for accurate and timely chemical stock take, ordering of stock and other required items for the Science faculty
as per Department of Education and Training procurement guidelines.
3. Ensure the health and safety guidelines are adhered to and the faculty first aid kits are maintained. Conduct the safety audits
and ensure all safety procedures and displayed clearly.
4. Undertake data entry and retrieval of school data systems to ensure accurate maintenance of all manual and computerized
student records, and asset registers.
5. Liaise with external companies and service providers to support administrative and educational tasks of the Science Faculty
and school administration team as required.
Selection Criteria
Essential
1. Ability to develop and maintain working partnerships with internal and external stakeholders and work closely with team
members to achieve results as an effective Science Faculty.
2. Ability to communicate effectively with people and students from diverse cultural, religious, and socio-economic
backgrounds.
3. Demonstrated experience in the management of dangerous goods, chemicals, and apparatus' as per the Work Health and
Safety procedures of the laboratory.
4. Demonstrated computer literacy skills, including the effective use of various office applications such as databases and
spreadsheets to support the management of asset registers, chemical registers, procurement processes, student data entry,
and ICT applications required for communication.
1. Ability to monitor own performance and tasks against expected outcomes, deadlines, whilst in a busy work environment.

The successful applicant must have no significant criminal record confirmed by a Police Criminal History check and have, or be in
the process of obtaining, a current Working with Children Card and current First Aid Certificate and Dangerous Goods and
Hazardous Substances training.
