Overview
Outreach Counsellor - Level 5 role at Centrecare. Join to apply for this position in a not-for-profit organisation delivering counselling, support, accommodation, mediation and training services across multiple locations.
Responsibilities
- Assist children and families to move from homelessness into housing within the wider community.
- Support children who have experienced homelessness or are at risk of homelessness through counselling and development of life skills and healthy child development.
- Undertake assessment and counselling of children and their families to improve personal and social development, health and wellbeing.
- Develop client-focused support plans using a case management approach for referred children and their families.
- Act as a referral source and advocate for children and families identified in crisis accommodation and public tenancy support programs.
- Help families and individuals plan for secure long-term accommodation.
- Rostered shifts from 10am to 6pm on weekdays and Saturday shifts.
Selection criteria
- Minimum tertiary level qualification (bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Social Work, Social Sciences, Aboriginal Studies or related disciplines).
- Ability to work with marginalised and disadvantaged groups, especially children.
- Demonstrated experience in counselling children and families.
- Experience in outreach services, individual/family support and/or case management.
- Ability to work 10am–6pm on weekdays and 9am–5pm on Saturdays.
- 3–5 years of experience in a similar position.
- Federal Police Clearance and Working with Children Card.
- Current driver’s licence and access to a vehicle.
