Planning & purchasing lead (3 month contract)

Drive purchasing, supplier engagement and inventory optimisation in a FMCG manufacturing environment. We are seeking an experienced Planning & Procurement Lead for an immediate 3‐month contract opportunity. This hands‐on role will suit a commercially minded supply chain professional who enjoys balancing purchasing, supplier management, inventory control, and production planning to ensure materials are available to support operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage purchasing activities for raw materials, ingredients, and packaging.
• Ensure materials are ordered in the right quantities and delivered in line with production requirements.
• Build and maintain strong supplier relationships while monitoring supplier performance.
• Escalate and resolve supply issues, delivery delays and material shortages.
• Monitor inventory levels and ensure stock availability aligns with production schedules.
• Manage stock accuracy, stocktake processes and inventory variance investigations.
• Analyse purchasing, inventory and supplier performance data to identify improvement opportunities.
• Collaborate with internal stakeholders to balance service levels, inventory targets and operational requirements.

About You

You will bring proven experience across purchasing, procurement, inventory management or supply chain planning within a manufacturing, FMCG or industrial environment.

• Experience managing supplier relationships and purchasing activities.
• Ability to analyse inventory, purchasing and supply chain data to support decision‐making.
• Experience managing supply risks and implementing contingency plans.
• Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities.
• Intermediate to advanced Excel skills.
• Experience with ERP/MRP systems.
• Exposure to packaging, ingredients, raw materials procurement.
