Your new role
The Applications Administrator will be responsible for the development and implementation of good practice governance and applications lifecycle support and management for the organisation.
Reporting into the Applications Lead within the ICT division, this is a unique opportunity to define the service catalogue for application services and lead the product and application technology stack of a developing and leading organisation. Educating the business on the value and opportunity of shared applications services will present a challenge as they work through establish trust and good governance throughout the organisation.
The key objectives of the position are:
* Establish the service catalogue representing application services and establish required product groupings.
* Establish good application governance across the technology stack.
* Work with internal and external auditors to complete annual audit requirements and to remediate and correct any findings.
* Mature the security controls and ensure sufficient security practice enabling Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability in our shared applications.
* Implement a cloud first application strategy that will see all applications shift to SaaS or PaaS platforms over a 5-year period.
* Administer and support core business applications including Jira (issue and project tracking), Oracle databases and applications, Microsoft 365 services (Teams, SharePoint, Exchange), TechOne ERP, and Chris21 payroll software.
* Coordinate and implement application upgrades, patches, and configuration changes in collaboration with vendors and internal teams.
* Manage user access, roles, and permissions ensuring compliance with security policies.
* Monitor application performance, troubleshoot issues, and provide timely resolution or escalate to vendors as necessary.
* Collaborate with business units to understand application needs, gather requirements, and assist in process improvements.
* Develop and maintain system documentation, standard operating procedures, and user guides.
* Provide training and technical support to end-users and stakeholders.
* Assist with data management and reporting requirements for the applications.
* Ensure compliance with organizational IT policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
* Participate in IT projects involving application integrations, migrations, or implementations.
What you need to succeed
* Proven experience (typically 3+ years) as an Application Administrator or similar IT role. Strong working knowledge of:
* Jira (administration and configuration)
* Oracle database and applications
* Microsoft 365 suite (Exchange, SharePoint, Teams)
* TechOne ERP system
* Chris21 payroll system
* Experience with user access management and security best practices.
* Solid troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to communicate technical information clearly to non-technical users.
* Experience working in cross-functional teams and managing vendor relationships.
* Relevant IT certifications (e.g., Microsoft 365 Certified, Oracle Certified) are an advantage.
