The Executive Officer (EO) plays a pivotal role in providing high-level operational, administrative, and project support to the Executive Director of TAAHC. Acting under the direction of the Executive Director, the EO is responsible for coordinating internal operations, supporting strategic initiatives, and ensuring the timely delivery of projects and organisational processes.
This role enables the Executive Director to focus on strategic leadership, partnerships, and research advocacy by managing the day-to-day operational demands of a small but agile team. The EO also supports coordination across member organisations and assists in delivering TAAHC’s vision for locally led, impactful health research in northern Queensland.
TAAHC is a collaborative partnership comprising five Hospital and Health Services (Cairns and Hinterland, Mackay, North West, Torres and Cape, and Townsville), the Northern Queensland Primary Health Network (NQPHN), the Queensland Aboriginal and Islander Health Council (QAIHC), and James Cook University (JCU).
As an NHMRC-accredited Research Translation Centre, TAAHC works to enable integrated research, training, and evidence-informed service improvement to enhance health outcomes across northern Queensland.
Principal Accountabilities
Executive administration Support
Provide proactive executive administrative support to the Executive Director and, as required, the Board Chair, including diary management, meeting scheduling, document preparation, and correspondence handling.
Assist with the preparation of high-quality reports, briefings, agendas, and presentations.
Manage office operations and administrative processes, including procurement, document control, and workflow coordination.
Support planning cycles, performance reporting, and internal project management tools and processes.
Financial and Contract Administration
Work with external finance providers to support budget monitoring, procurement tracking, and reporting.
Coordinate contract and grant documentation, including ensuring timely submissions, milestone tracking, and compliance with funding agreements.
Program and Research Support
Collaborate with the Research Education Lead and other staff to facilitate research capacity-building initiatives across member organisations.
Support internal grant administration, including promotion, application management, and acquittal processes.
Assist with the compilation and submission of research progress reports and internal documentation.
Communication and Stakeholder Engagement
Maintain and update communication platforms including newsletters, websites, and email lists to promote TAAHC activities.
Support coordination of stakeholder engagement events, meetings, and community-facing activities across the region
