Payroll Officer Role Overview
We are currently seeking a skilled Payroll Officer to join our Finance department in Canberra. The successful candidate will be responsible for contributing to the timely and accurate processing of payroll for employees and contractors, while ensuring compliance with all legislative requirements.
This role provides an opportunity to contribute to payroll operations, including data entry, costing, leave applications, and payroll records. Additionally, you will assist with reconciliations for deductions, PAYG tax, superannuation, and payroll tax reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
* Assist with fortnightly payroll processing, including data entry, costing, and leave applications.
* Contribute to reconciliations for deductions, PAYG tax, superannuation, and payroll tax reporting.
* Support year-end reconciliations, reporting, and preparation of payment summaries.
* Work closely with other teams to ensure payroll actions align with contracts, awards, and enterprise agreements.
* Help maintain payroll systems, reports, and uploads to the General Ledger, while supporting process improvements.
* Build positive relationships with employees, contractors, and stakeholders, and support audits to ensure compliance.
The ideal candidate will have experience in payroll, strong organisational skills, accuracy with figures, and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure. They will also possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
