An exciting opportunity to join the Social Work Department as full-time social worker until 14 September 2026. The social worker will work across a number of clinical areas to provide support for children and young people receiving health care at SCH and their families. The position is well supported with clinical supervision and professional development opportunities.
What You'll Be Doing
The primary focus of the position is to provide a comprehensive social work service to children, young people and their families referred from the relative clinical area. This includes the provision of psychosocial assessments, counselling and advocacy. The service includes individual, family and group work and program development. The social worker is an integral part of the multi-disciplinary team.
About You
Describe the qualities and attributes of an ideal candidate, followed by specific skills and qualifications.
* Eligibility for AASW membership preferably with post graduate experience in social work practice with families and children and/or in health context.
* Demonstrated skills in crisis intervention, assessment and counselling and a commitment to evidence based practice.
* Understanding of the issues facing children and their families when confronted with illness and disability and possessing knowledge of the relevant community support services.
* Capacity to share after hours and weekend on call duties.
* Demonstrated capacity to build professional and therapeutic relationships.
* Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
