Job Description About the Role:Senior Lecturer, School of Social Work, IHMSenior Lecturer provides leadership and excellence in research, teaching, and professional services throughout the academic discipline. They lead and coordinate curriculum development, research activities as well as provide expertise in lecturing, and tutorials. This position involves teaching, research, and service responsibilities, with a particular focus on advancing the field of social work through innovative teaching practices, impactful research, and community engagement.A Senior Lecturer (Level C) is expected to perform the following and duties (as required) to meet the expectations and requirements of the role:Develop high-quality tertiary subject curricula and teaching materials in Social Work, incorporating innovative, evidence-based teaching methodologies. Provide timely, constructive feedback to support student learning, development, and academic progression.Engage in high-quality, impactful research with a focus on advancing the field of Social Work. Actively pursue external research funding and grants and provide academic mentorship and supervision to research students at undergraduate and postgraduate levels.Staying current with developments in the field, engaging in continuous professional development activities.Providing support and guidance to students, fostering a positive learning environment.Build and maintain strong professional relationships within the university and with external partners, including the Social Work Field Education group. Support collaboration with industry, community organisations, and other academic institutions.Support the implementation of IHM's student retention strategy to improve the overall student experience and engagement.Qualifications:An AASW approved qualification and a doctorate (PhD) in Social Work, or a closely related discipline.Eligible for membership of the AASW.A strong and sustained track record of research excellence, with evidence of high-impact publications and research leadership.Proven leadership capabilities, contributing to a collegial academic culture that supports excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.Experience:Professional experience in Social Work or community services, and a strong foundation in social work practice, research, or education.Previous teaching experience, preferably within a higher education setting, is highly desirable.Experience in curriculum development, quality assurance, and program review within a tertiary education environment.Demonstrated excellence in teaching and curriculum development, with evidence of student engagement, innovation in pedagogy, and recognition for teaching quality.Professional Development and Further Education opportunitiesEmployee Assistant Program available for staff and studentsAll recruitment, selection and promotion decisions will be based on the best qualified and experienced candidate who can meet the genuine occupational requirements of this position.
