About the Role
Reporting directly to the Board of Directors, the General Manager will lead all aspects of club operations, driving performance, culture, and member experience.
This is a hands‐on leadership role where no two days are the same—you'll be equally comfortable in the boardroom, on the course, engaging with members, and activating new ideas that bring energy and growth to the club.
Key Responsibilities
Lead, inspire, and develop a high‐performing team across all departments
Execute the club's strategic plan and identify new growth opportunities
Foster a positive, inclusive, and service‐driven culture
Work collaboratively with the Board to achieve long‐term objectives
Operations & Financial Management
Oversee daily operations across bar, functions, course, and administration
Ensure exceptional service standards and presentation across all facilities
Manage budgets, financial reporting, and performance analysis
Ensure compliance with all legislative, regulatory, and governance requirements
Driving Range, Mini Golf & Revenue Growth
Position the driving range and mini golf precinct as a vibrant, family‐friendly and high‐energy destination for golfers and the broader community
Drive increased visitation through casual play, group bookings, parties, and social experiences
Develop and deliver innovative offerings including themed events, competitions, and corporate activations
Maximise revenue opportunities across range balls, mini golf, events, and food & beverage integration
Explore and implement technology and entertainment enhancements to elevate the customer experience
Ensure outstanding presentation, safety, and operational efficiency of both the driving range and mini golf facilities
Build partnerships, promotions, and community engagement initiatives to grow awareness and participation
Monitor performance metrics and continuously evolve offerings to maximise engagement and return
Functions, Events & Community Engagement
Grow the club's functions and events business, including weddings, corporate days, and social events
Support and elevate major events, including the award‐winning Mackay Pro‐Am, ensuring continued success and reputation
Deliver a dynamic calendar of golf and non‐golf events
Build strong relationships with members, sponsors, and local stakeholders
Act as a passionate ambassador for the club within the community
Golf Operations Support
Support the delivery of the annual golf program for members and visitors
Work closely with the Course Superintendent and PGA Professional to ensure a high‐quality golf experience
About You
You are an energetic, forward‐thinking leader who thrives in a dynamic environment and is passionate about delivering exceptional experiences.
You will bring:
Proven leadership and people management skills
Experience in hospitality, club management and/or the golf industry
Strong financial acumen and reporting capability
Strategic thinking with the ability to execute and deliver results
Understanding of governance and compliance within a club environment
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
A hands‐on, adaptable approach to leadership
Knowledge of golf operations and member‐based environments
RSA and RSG (or ability to obtain)
Work Structure and Remuneration
This is a full‐time role based on a 40‐hour week, generally Monday to Friday, with great flexibility provided to support events and operational needs.
A remuneration package will consist of a base salary of $125,000 + Super + Company Car in addition to an additional week of annual leave (total of 5 weeks) as prescribed by the Registered and Licensed Clubs Award.
The club is supportive of all avenues for future growth, training and professional development of the General Manager and as such, associated requests shall be considered accordingly.
