2026 Emergency Medicine Registrar

Doctors in Training Enterprise Agreement HM25-HM30)

86 hours per fortnight

Full Time, Max Term February 2026 – August 2026

Echuca ED is experiencing a period of rapid growth with annual presentations around 30,000 and 20% paediatric presentations. We are looking for enthusiastic registrars to join our ED team in Echuca from February 2026 onwards. Positions are available as either 3, 6 or 12-month rotations for the 2026 clinical year.

We are a Tier 3 accredited ED. We welcome trainees who are interested in rotating to ERH from their base hospital and can provide the support required to ensure the process is seamless and allows you to remain linked in with your primary training site. ERH also run our own fortnightly Critical Care Education Program and welcome trainees with an interest in education to be involved in the ongoing design and delivery of the program.

You will work alongside an experienced and supportive group of 8 FACEM's as well as other ACEM, rural generalist, ACRRM and GP trainees and rotating HMO's and interns. We are accredited for TS4 and provide a supportive environment for trainees to take on supervised leadership roles and non-clinical portfolios that will support your transition to junior FACEM.

We are looking for enthusiastic Registrars to join our Emergency Department at Echuca Regional Health from February 2026 for 6 months

Key responsibilities include:

* Deliver evidenced based care in a safe and timely manner in the Emergency Department in collaboration with other Senior and Visiting Medical Officers
* Undertake the appropriate and efficient assessment and treatment of patients presenting to the Emergency Department in accordance with triage categories and guidelines
* Effectively communicate with all stakeholders to pursue a high standard of care and ensure the appropriate continuity of care
* Supervise and support medical and nursing staff whom are more junior; consistent with their level of training and individual learning needs
* Actively participate in mandatory meetings as required and requested

Qualifications/experience required:

* MBBS or equivalent degree enabling registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency
* Membership with the Australasian College of Emergency Medicine (ACEM)
* High level interpersonal and communication skills
* Evidence of on-going professional development to continually update personal medical knowledge and skills

In addition, this position offers:

* Plenty of resus and procedural experience without the need to compete with multiple other trainees for exposure
* Access to aesthetic lists to develop intubation skills if desired
* Opportunity to take on leadership roles on MET and code blue teams
