The School Nurse provides health services to promote optimal physical, mental, emotional and social growth and development for students in school settings.
Key Responsibilities
* Cares for students with chronic health issues
* Helps identify health needs during the school day
* Provides health education, medication management, emotional support and referral to higher levels of care as needed
* Supports the education process by ensuring the health of students
Promotes healthy habits and overall health to strengthen maximum learning. PRN staff must be available to work a minimum of three shifts per month between August-May, in order to maintain competency as a school nurse.
This School Nurse opening is for the beginning of the 2025-2026 school year and the nurse will start in the summer of 2025.
Exceptional Skills and Qualifications:
* Graduate of National League for Nursing (NLN), Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE), Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing (ACEN), or National League for Nursing Commission for Nursing Education Accreditation (NLN CNEA) accredited school of nursing
* Licensed as a Registered Nurse (RN) with a valid license to practice in the state of Indiana as listed in the Nurse Licensure Compact (NLC)
* One year or more of nursing experience required
* Two years of experience working with pediatric patients required
