Based in Kingston and operates state-of-the-art facilities specializing in the manufacture, refurbishment, repair, erection/installation, and maintenance of specialist equipment for the power generation, mining, mineral processing, aquaculture, water & sewage, and general engineering industries.
**Your new role**
The successful applicant would be responsible for assisting welders in their daily tasks. This may include preparing materials, cleaning and maintaining equipment, and performing basic welding tasks under the supervision of a qualified welder. They may also be responsible for ensuring that the work area is clean and safe, and that all tools and equipment are properly stored and maintained.
**What you'll need to succeed**
- Physical fitness: Welding trade assistants must be able to lift heavy objects and work in confined spaces.
- Attention to detail: Welding requires precision and attention to detail to ensure that the welds are strong and secure.
- Mathematical skills: Welding trade assistants must be able to read and interpret blueprints and perform basic calculations.
- Communication skills: Welding trade assistants must be able to communicate effectively with other members of the team.
- Mechanical aptitude: Welding trade assistants must have a basic understanding of mechanical systems and be able to use hand and power tools.
- Problem-solving skills: Welding trade assistants must be able to identify and solve problems that arise during the welding process.
- Safety awareness: Welding trade assistants must be aware of safety procedures and regulations to ensure that they and their colleagues are safe on the job.
