Why this role matters The Salvation Army (Salvos) Doorways model of care provides holistic financial support to individuals and families seeking short term financial assistance and ongoing financial management support services. The Doorways Team provide person-centred trauma informed care, facilitate short-term financial assistance, and walk side-by-side with participants as they build the skills and knowledge to break the cycle of poverty. About the Role As a Case Worker, you’ll walk beside people experiencing hardship and disadvantage—supporting them to set goals, build confidence, and connect with services that help them regain stability and independence. You’ll be part of our Doorways Program, which takes a strength-based, holistic approach to helping individuals navigate financial stress, long-term disadvantage, and life's complexities. This is more than a job—it’s a calling to make change happen. Reporting to the Doorways Regional Manager, this is a permanent part-time position offering 22.8 hours per week, based in Pakenham VIC. Compensation is in accordance with SCHADS Award Level 4. How you will make an impact
* Work collaboratively with Corps Officers, volunteers, and local partners to deliver wraparound support
* Build meaningful connections with community members to assess needs and develop achievable, personalised case plans
* Provide support with financial hardship through referrals and advocacy (e.g., No Interest Loans, energy relief)
* Strengthen capacity for self-determination and independent living
* Ensure accurate case documentation and contributing to service improvement
What you will bring
* A heart for people and a belief in their potential
* Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, or a related field is desirable
* Diploma with experience would be considered
* Experience in community services, ideally in case management or support coordination
* A calm, optimistic outlook even in challenging situations
* A commitment to working collaboratively—with individuals, families, and other service providers
* A current and valid Working with Children's Check
* A current Driver’s Licence
