Network Engineer – IMS & Core Network Migration

Role Overview
As a Network Engineer for our Telco client, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and optimising IMS-based voice and multimedia services, leading complex core network migrations, and supporting cloud-native deployments. You'll work in a dynamic, multi-vendor environment and collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless service delivery.
Key Responsibilities
Engineer and maintain IMS core network components, with a focus on Ericsson architecture (CSCF, HSS, TAS, MRF, SBC).Rapidly adapt to Nokia IMS platforms (Cloud Native Communication Suite, TAS, CFX, SBC, MRF).Lead planning and execution of large-scale live core network migrations, including vendor swaps, rollback strategies, and cutover procedures.Support and troubleshoot 4G/5G voice services including VoLTE, VoNR, VoWiFi, and RCS.Design and secure IP networks using BGP, OSPF, QoS, VPNs, and SBCs (Ribbon, Metaswitch).Deploy and manage VNFs/CNFs on cloud platforms (OpenStack, Kubernetes, VMware).Use orchestration tools to automate and scale IMS deployments.Perform diagnostics and root cause analysis in multi-vendor environments.Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Required Skills & Experience
Minimum 5 years in IMS core network engineering within a Telco or equipment vendor.Strong understanding of 3GPP IMS standards (SIP, Diameter, RTP, SDP, ISUP, H.248, Megaco).Proven experience with Ericsson IMS products and architecture.Nokia IMS experience highly desirable; candidates without it must demonstrate rapid learning ability.Hands-on experience with VoLTE, VoNR/5G Voice, VoWiFi, and IMS-based multimedia applications.Solid IP networking knowledge and experience with interconnect SBCs.Familiarity with cloud-native technologies and orchestration tools.Excellent troubleshooting, communication, and documentation skills.Ability to work independently and thrive in high-pressure environments.
