Job Description:
Occupational therapists work with individuals to develop, recover, or maintain the skills needed for daily living and work. They focus on helping people overcome physical or mental disabilities that limit their ability to function in everyday life.
The Role:
As a care specialist at WA Country Health Service, you will be working with patients who have various needs such as rehabilitation after illness or injury, developing coping strategies, and providing support for people with disabilities. Your role will involve assessment, treatment planning, and implementation of interventions to promote optimal participation in meaningful activities.
Key Responsibilities:
* Collaborate with Primary Health Manager and Senior Occupational Therapist to plan, implement, and evaluate occupational therapy services and health promotion programs.
* Develop and maintain relationships with community groups, organizations, and stakeholders to ensure effective service delivery and outcomes.
* Provide individualized care to patients with diverse needs, including those with intellectual or developmental disabilities, mental health conditions, and physical disabilities.
* Work closely with multidisciplinary teams to provide comprehensive care and support services.
Selection Criteria:
To be successful in this role, you will need:
* Tertiary qualifications in Occupational Therapy (Bachelor of Occupational Therapy degree) or equivalent qualifications approved by Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
* Current registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist.
* Minimum 2 years' experience in occupational therapy, preferably in a hospital setting.
* Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with ability to work effectively with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with strong problem-solving and adaptability skills.
