It comprises 17 areas within 4 regions, backed by 5 central office divisions, all collaborating to deliver improved outcomes for early childhood services, schools, communities, and learners, in line with Education State commitments.
SRS regions serve as a bridge between the central office, schools, and service providers, ensuring smooth transitions for learners and achieving the department's ambitious targets.
Each region includes divisions specialising in school performance, student wellbeing and early childhood support, working with area-based teams to tailor local interventions and practices.
The 17 areas provide crucial insights into local trends and issues, facilitating effective policy and program development and driving child and learner outcomes across all services and programs.This role is located in the Jobs Skills & Pathways Unit, Goulburn Area, NEVR Region, SRS.
The Jobs Skills & Pathways Unit supports existing initiatives and the implementation of the Senior Secondary Reform agenda in response to the Review into Vocational and Applied Learning Pathways in Senior Secondary Schooling, the Firth Review.
As the reform requirements change, this role may evolve to ensure it aligns with other priorities within the regional pathways team.About the RoleThe Senior Job Skills & Pathways Advisor (SJSPA) is a key role in Area Executive Director Division within each of the Department's 4 regional offices.The SJSPA is responsible for supporting Careers Education and Pathways practice leadership, leading pathways support functions at the regional level in collaboration with the Youth Pathways and Transitions staff, and providing support for multidisciplinary teams at regional and area levels.
The role will support the Youth Pathways and Transition Manager (YPTM) in their practice leadership functions and provide operational advice to area teams, schools and other stakeholders as required.The SJSPA also supports the implementation of the Senior Secondary Reform agenda in response to the Review into Vocational and Applied Learning Pathways in Senior Secondary Schooling (the Firth Review), following the Government's investment of a further $277.7 million in Senior Secondary Reforms through the 22/23 State budget.This work involves a core focus on driving continuous improvement and quality in vocational learning opportunities and post-school outcomes for students, including through advice on VET initiatives, school-based apprenticeships and traineeships, alternative educational provision including Flexible Learning Options and the suite of careers reforms in government schools.
Strong practice support and strategic planning skills are required for this role, as well as experience in stakeholder engagement across education, training and industry sectors such as LLENs, TAFE and other registered training providers, Higher Education and Skills, Group Training Organisations and Non-School Senior Secondary Providers (NSSPs).AttributesThe successful candidate will have demonstrated skills and experience in leading system change, ideally in the education and training sector.
The candidate will be adept at partnering and relationship building to influence stakeholders and embed change and will be confident working with data to identify evidence-based insights to inform policy, program and practice improvement.
The successful candidate will be a self-starter with strong problem-solving skills; able to use an understanding of stakeholder context, to design and implement systems for continuous improvement.Please refer to the position description for more information.Qualifications and Experience * Desirable: A relevant tertiary qualification in a related field.
