About the Role
Sutherland Shire Council is seeking an innovative and strategic Community Manager – Innovation and Activation to lead the integration of our Events and Activations, Economic Development, and Community Property teams. This pivotal leadership role is responsible for activating public spaces, maximising the use of Council venues and buildings, and delivering large-scale events and community programs that foster cultural vibrancy, business growth and economic development across the Shire.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead, inspire and develop high-performing multidisciplinary teams across Events and Activations, Economic Development and Community Property.
* Manage the planning and delivery of large-scale events, public space activations and civic programs that engage the community.
* Strategically maximise the use of Council‑owned venues and public spaces to enhance community participation and economic opportunities.
* Drive innovative programs that support business growth, tourism and cultural development.
* Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including community groups, local businesses and government agencies.
* Oversee departmental budgets, contracts, and funding opportunities, ensuring financial sustainability and responsible resource management.
* Promote a safe, inclusive, and child‑safe culture across all activities, venues and teams.
