Working in data at Mantel means you'll be ahead of the curve. You can align to a particular cloud platform or remain cloud agnostic, specialising in data engineering, machine learning, analytics, or data science. You'll design and scale enterprise‐level, fully automated Agentic AI solutions, and speed up data platform migrations.
About the role
As a Principal Analytics Engineer, you are a high‐impact leader who shapes the future of Mantel's data landscape. Moving beyond project‐level delivery, you operate at the intersection of technical excellence, commercial strategy, and industry influence to ensure our clients don't just deliver data, but drive meaningful business outcomes.
Project Delivery & Technical Strategy
* Lead the architectural vision for complex, concurrent data projects, ensuring analytics frameworks are scalable, robust, and aligned with client business outcomes.
* Act as the SME for Analytics Engineering, defining the standards for DataOps, modeling patterns, and semantic layer design across the business.
* Architect the roadmap for next‐generation AI capabilities, ensuring data structures are optimised for Agentic AI and LLM integration.
* Quickly identify pain points in challenging projects and implement strategic course corrections to get them back on track.
* Drive commercial growth by identifying and pursuing new opportunities and developing unique IP.
* Lead technical pre‐sales initiatives, including conducting customer demonstrations and developing RFQs, RFPs, and SOWs.
* Manage commercial aspects of projects, including scoping, estimation, pricing, and supporting resourcing decisions to ensure healthy project economics.
Team & Capability Development
* Mentor and coach team members and clients, focusing on individual development, recruitment strategy, and overall project team health.
* Drive strategic AI initiatives and foster collaboration across different capabilities within the business.
* Provide ongoing guidance and support to the broader data team to elevate standards of excellence.
Partnerships & Industry Influence
* Cultivate and maintain deep relationships with key partners like dbt Labs, Snowflake, Databricks, Google and AWS.
* Act as a trusted advisor to clients, providing professional guidance on AI strategy, data governance, and organisational data maturity.
* Build the company's reputation as a thought leader by representing the brand at industry events, meetups, and through technical writing (blogs and social channels).
* Use professional judgement while treating colleagues and clients with respect and compassion, and a demonstrated ability to display our Mantel principles.
What you'll need to be successful:
* Extensive consulting experience with a proven track record of influencing technical and business leaders at Head of, GM, and CxO levels.
* Strong understanding of the modern data stack (specifically dbt) and its role in creating AI‐ready data architectures.
* Deep strategic knowledge of the Databricks and Snowflake ecosystems, with a focus on how these platforms enable enterprise‐wide analytics.
* Experience working on large engagements and the ability to understand complex customer requirements and apply technology solutions to meet business problems.
* Experience in large and complex RFP responses, solution design, ability to articulate the value proposition of an overall solution.
* Proven experience and ability to own the preparation of sales presentations, proposals, documents and artefacts.
* Excellent leadership and communication skills and confidence making presentations.
* Strong influencing and negotiation skills with the ability to handle objections and be persuasive when proposing solutions and products.
* Self‐motivated and hands‐on approach, adept at navigating ambiguity to find solutions.
* You take ownership, always stepping up to help and prioritising your teammates. You're also a clear, kind communicator who makes sound decisions based on good judgement.
