The Team
Oral Health Services Tasmania (OHST) is a division of the Tasmania Department of Health that provides public dental care to eligible Tasmanians. Its primary goal is to improve oral health outcomes across the state, particularly for vulnerable and disadvantaged populations. OHST employs around 300 people, including dentists, oral health therapists, dental prosthetists, technicians, dental assistants and administrative staff, and provides care from 33 clinics around Tasmania.
Role
* Based in Northern Tasmania (Launceston and surrounds)
* Provide dental services in line with OHST policies, protocols and guidelines to eligible adults and children, including community clinics, hospital theatres, Special Care Dental Units, correctional services and outreach services.
* Provide dental care for children whose required care is outside the scope of Dental Therapists and/or Oral Health Therapists and support Dental Therapists and Oral Health Therapists as part of the integrated clinical team.
* Assist in the development and advancement of the knowledge and professional skills of other staff within the team, including supervision of undergraduate students or mentoring of new graduate Dentists.
Qualifications
* Sound knowledge of dentistry, including children's dentistry at the general dental practitioner level; post‐graduate experience of at least three years preferred.
* Commitment to continuing professional education and sharing knowledge with colleagues.
* Up‐to‐date knowledge of the principles of Public Health Dentistry and Minimal Intervention Dentistry, with a commitment to improving the safety and quality of services.
* Registered with the Dental Board of Australia.
* Working with Children Registration.
Location & Hours
Full‐time day worker based in Northern Tasmania, 76 hours per fortnight, commencing 13 July 2026. Hours are negotiable with the successful applicant.
Salary
Salary range: $129,130 to $202,386 per annum, plus a 12% superannuation contribution. Salary is in accordance with the Dental Officers Agreement 2022.
