Procurement Officer - CAF Rail Australia - Dubbo

The NSW Government is replacing the NSW regional rail fleet of XPT, XPLORER and Endeavour trains with 29 safer, comfortable and more accessible trains for customers traveling across NSW and between Sydney, Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane. The Mindyarra Maintenance Centre in Dubbo will receive a new team for train completion works.
We are currently seeking a Procurement Officer that will be directly reporting to the Procurement Manager within the Mindyarra Maintenance Centre based in Dubbo. The role acts as Material Activation Coordinator and is responsible for ensuring that CAF NSW production site is supplied with finishing and systems purchasing parts at the correct time, configuration and quantity required to support manufacturing schedule requirements.
General Responsibilities
- Make sure the material arrives on time and in full, and if this is not possible, take all mitigation actions to minimize the impact of the delay in the Manufacturing Program.
- Manage material shortages caused by rejections or modifications. Effective and continuous communication with headquarters, CAF Beasain, is essential.
- Maintain constant communication with suppliers (video meetings, on-site meetings) to schedule, arrange and assure short, medium and long term supply of the material. Visit vendors to develop a relationship and verify the progress of the manufacturing process to deliver the material on the requested date and in full quantity.
- Provide reliable, analysed and accurate delivery dates to the project team, even if these dates don't meet the ideal date requirement.
- Anticipate any possible risky situations that may impact on the material supply (allocation, capacity limitations, bottlenecks from the supplier side).
- Proactively participate in multidisciplinary teams (manufacturing, quality, engineering) to build cars on time, in cost and in quality.
Essential Qualifications
- Possess a tertiary qualification or equivalent experience in Purchase, Logistics or Supply Chain discipline.
- Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical information clearly and concisely.
- Experience with office management software e.g. MS Office (MS Excel and MS Word, specifically).
Desirable Qualifications
- Have at least 2 years' experience in similar or related roles.
- Spanish knowledge.
