Position Information

Woongarrah Public School is a vibrant, community‐centred school located on the Central Coast of New South Wales, proudly situated on Darkinjung land. The school serves a dynamic and diverse community of 370 mainstream students, with a newly established multi‐categorical support class with 7 students. There are 46 students who identify as Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander, representing 12% of total enrolments, and our school community includes families from more than 30 different cultural backgrounds. We deeply value and celebrate the contributions of both our Aboriginal community and our culturally diverse families, who help shape an inclusive and culturally responsive school environment. Woongarrah PS provides a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment where every student is recognised, supported, and empowered to reach its full potential. Our experienced and passionate staff work collaboratively to deliver high‐quality, innovative, and evidence‐based teaching and learning programmes, with a strong focus on Explicit Teaching, Equity for Excellence and High Potential and Gifted Education. We are committed to ensuring that each child has a voice and receives the personalised support they need to grow and succeed. Strong partnerships with families and the wider community are central to our approach, including a strong relationship with the Ngara AECG and Tuggerah Lakes Principal Network.

Specific Selection Criteria

* Approval to teach. In addition to the general selection criteria,
* Proven ability as a highly visible and responsive instructional leader to set high expectations and lead the implementation of the department's priorities, to support the success of all students.
* Demonstrated successful change management with the ability to lead a diverse staff, while fostering a culture of excellence that drives enhanced learning and wellbeing outcomes for all students.
* Demonstrated capacity to advance school excellence through inspirational, visible leadership and sustained authentic partnerships across the school and wider community.

General Selection Criteria

* High level educational leadership with the skills to lead and manage a complex public school focused on the delivery of high quality education
* Ability to lead and manage rigorous and inclusive whole school teaching and learning programmes
* High level communication and interpersonal skills with the capacity to build positive relationships and engage all levels of the school and educational community
* Ability to lead and manage the development and performance of staff to improve teaching and learning
* Ability to plan systems and manage resources effectively and equitably to enhance teaching and learning
* Capacity to lead staff in implementing the Department's Aboriginal education policy and to ensure quality outcomes for Aboriginal people

Conditions

An unconditional full approval to teach is a requirement. If you do not hold a full approval to teach with the NSW Department of Education, you are required to commence the application process at the same time as you apply for this teaching opportunity.

Classification Structure for Principals: The Crown Employees (Teachers in Schools and Related Employees) Salaries and Conditions Award 2020 details the new principal classification structure based on complexity of schools which commenced in 2016. Please view information on the Classification structure for Principals at https://education.nsw.gov.au/about-us/careers-at-education/salary-and-benefits/salary-and-awards/awards-and-determinations/teachers-award-initiatives#Principal2. The classification and remuneration of our school principals is based on school complexity, as measured through each school's RAM allocation. As part of the ongoing application of the new structure a review of thresholds and outcomes will occur on an annual basis. The principal classification for this school is Principal Level P2 for 2025 and Principal Level P2 for 2026.
