Base salary will be in the range $117,958.12 – $132,247.57 + 17% super (HEW Level 8)
As an ICT Procurement Specialist, you will play a critical role in enabling The University of Queensland's digital ecosystem by delivering strategic sourcing, category management and contract management across complex ICT portfolios. Working within Information Technology Services, you will partner closely with IT leaders, legal specialists and suppliers to ensure procurement outcomes that are commercially sound, policy compliant and future focused. This is a highly collaborative environment where your expertise will directly support teaching, research and engagement across one of Australia's leading universities.
Key responsibilities will include:
Leading and contributing to end‐to‐end ICT sourcing activities, including procurement planning, tender development, evaluation and contract execution, requiring a highly hands-on approach to deliver outcomes.
Drive procurement initiatives across ICT categories, applying market analysis, spend insights, and stakeholder engagement to develop and implement effective sourcing strategies and category plans.
Actively manage vendor engagements and commercial negotiations, working closely with internal stakeholders and Legal to mitigate risk and ensure compliance.
Provide practical, front-line procurement expertise, supporting stakeholders across the University through sourcing events (including publishing tenders, managing platforms, and maintaining records) while balancing competing priorities.
About You
You are a confident and commercially astute procurement professional who thrives in complex, stakeholder‐rich environments. You bring both strategic insight and operational rigour to your work, along with a genuine commitment to collaboration and continuous improvement.
You will have:
A degree in Information Technology, Law, Commerce, Business, or an equivalent combination of qualifications and substantial relevant experience
Demonstrated experience leading significant ICT procurement activities within a large, complex organisation
Strong knowledge of procurement policy, governance and contract management frameworks, ideally in a public sector or university setting
Proven negotiation skills with the ability to influence diverse stakeholders and suppliers
High‐level analytical capability with experience translating data into actionable procurement strategies
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities and tight deadlines
