Hydra Search have partnered with a growing engineering consultancy based in Perth, delivering specialist technical services across a range of infrastructure, building, and environmental projects.
We are seeking an experienced Lead Acoustic Consultant to establish and grow our acoustics capability in Western Australia. This role will suit someone who enjoys both technical delivery and business development, and who is motivated by the opportunity to build and lead a team within a growing consultancy.
The Role
As the Lead Acoustic Consultant, you will take ownership of developing and expanding the acoustics service offering. You will be responsible for managing acoustic projects, building strong client relationships, and identifying new business opportunities. Over time, you will lead the growth of the acoustics team and contribute to the strategic development of the consultancy.
This is a senior, client-facing position with a high level of autonomy and influence within the business.
Key Responsibilities
* Technical Leadership
* Lead and deliver acoustic assessments across environmental, building, and infrastructure projects
* Provide expert advice on noise and vibration matters to clients and project teams
* Prepare and review technical reports, modelling, and compliance assessments
* Ensure projects meet relevant Australian standards and regulatory requirements
Business Development
* Identify and pursue new project opportunities across WA
* Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, developers, contractors, and government agencies
* Prepare proposals, fee submissions, and tenders
* Represent the company at industry events and networking opportunities
* Establish and grow the acoustics service offering within the business
* Mentor and support junior consultants as the team expands
* Contribute to recruitment and team development strategies
About You
* Degree in Acoustics, Engineering, Physics, Environmental Science, or a related discipline
* 8+ years of experience in acoustic consulting
* Strong knowledge of environmental noise, building acoustics, and vibration assessments
* Demonstrated ability to win work and develop client relationships
* Experience leading projects and mentoring junior staff
* Strong written and verbal communication skills
* Familiarity with acoustic modelling software (e.g. SoundPLAN, CadnaA, INSUL)
* Membership or working towards membership with a relevant professional body (e.g. Australian Acoustical Society) is advantageous
