QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government. It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.
About the role
You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing strategic leadership and operational excellence as a Construction Manager.
This role involves overseeing the successful execution of construction projects and programs from scoping, tendering, delivering to handover, ensuring adherence to regulatory standards, optimizing resource allocation, fostering collaboration among stakeholders, and driving innovation to meet the evolving needs of the industry and community.
**Duties and skills involved**:
- Ensuring the effective operational delivery of QBuild partners' projects and programs by managing program resources' productivity, monitoring performance, apprentice competencies, and initiating remedial action as necessary. Maintaining a pipeline of works for Field staff across the region.
- Ensuring minor works and construction program projects are scoped, tendered and delivered in line with client expectations and the Queensland Government's Capital Works Framework.
- Initiating and participating in procurement activities for construction and maintenance contractors, including acting as the Superintendent's Representative on applicable contracts.
- Managing, coordinating, and integrating a workforce of office and field staff involved in product development, delivery, and partner liaison activities.
- Planning and resolving resourcing issues, ensuring appropriate allocation and management of resources within operational areas to achieve high-quality building services and project management within budget, resource, and time constraints.
- Develop and manage accurate scopes of work and cost estimates for tenders, ensuring alignment with project requirements, tender specifications, and industry standards. This includes evaluating project plans, assessing material and labour costs, and collaborating with stakeholders to deliver competitive and compliant tender submissions.
**Preferred skills and experience**:
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of the Building Construction Industry, including quality assurance, building project management and contract administration.
