About the Role

As a Resident Consultant at Cloudflare you will serve as the senior‐most technical expert and advisor for our most strategic and technically complex customers. This role is designed for a seasoned technologist who thrives on onsite customer interaction, solves real‐world challenges, and leads through thought and innovation. You will help customers maximise the value of Cloudflare's solutions, ensuring they meet their security, performance, and reliability needs.

Your duties will go beyond traditional support: you'll act as a trusted advisor, architect solutions, fine‐tune performance, mitigate risks, represent Cloudflare at conferences, and produce thought‐leadership content that strengthens the broader technical community.

Responsibilities

* Customer Engagement & Technical Leadership
o Serve as a trusted advisor to key enterprise customers, providing technical insights, best practices, and strategic recommendations that support their business goals.
o Lead architectural discussions, design sessions, and solution reviews to ensure optimal application of Cloudflare's offerings in customer environments.
o Diagnose complex technical issues and deliver effective, strategic solutions in collaboration with support and product teams.
* Thought Leadership & Knowledge Sharing
o Represent Cloudflare at industry conferences, webinars, and customer events, sharing insights and best practices with a broad audience.
o Write in‐depth knowledge articles, white papers, and best‐practice guides to support customers and internal teams.
o Identify emerging trends and develop relevant strategies to position Cloudflare as an innovative leader.
* Cross‐functional Collaboration
o Partner closely with Sales, Customer Success, Support, Partners, Product Management, and Engineering to ensure customer feedback shapes the product roadmap.
o Mentor and upskill internal teams and junior technical resources, fostering continuous learning.
* Consultation & Application of Industry Best Practices
o Leverage industry knowledge to advise customers on security, network optimisation, scalability, performance tuning, and related best practices.
o Stay current with industry trends and Cloudflare's evolving solutions to provide forward‐thinking guidance and configuration enhancements.

Desirable Skills, Knowledge and Experience

* 10+ years in a technical customer‐facing role such as Solutions Architect, Technical Account Manager, or similar, ideally in cloud networking, security, or web infrastructure.
* Extensive and proven knowledge of development platforms including Cloudflare's Workers and Workers AI, cybersecurity, web performance, and cloud infrastructure.
* Hands‐on experience building AI tools, including private LLM creation and associated software development tools.
* Experience with Cloudflare products or similar web infrastructure and security solutions is highly desirable.
* Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with experience presenting complex topics to both technical and non‐technical audiences.
* Proven track record of speaking at conferences, publishing technical articles, and establishing authority as a thought leader.
* Strong consultative skills, having effectively solved complex technical problems in customer environments.
* Ability to translate customer requirements into practical, scalable solutions that align with Cloudflare's technology stack.
* Prior customer onsite placement experience is a plus.
