We are partnered with a statewide organisation for the recruitment of a Senior Planning Engineer.
This is an initial 12 month contract with an indefinite pipeline of work. It's the type of role you can make into a long-term career – and that's what our client wants for you. It's a Monday to Friday, 40 hour a week, type role, where you'll get some proper work life balance.
The Role
* Undertaking system studies to facilitate power system development and connection of new loads and generators to the system, including steady state and dynamic modelling of power systems.
* Undertaking Renewable Energy Connection Assessments.
* Developing satisfactory solutions for customers.
* Developing Short-Medium Term Capacity Plans and assist with Load and Circuits Development Planning.
* Conducting high level financial analysis of feasible options as required from time to time.
* Ensuring planning guidelines, criteria and standards are followed and ensure the upkeep of system planning models.
* Developing trusted and valued relationships with the Regions and other internal stakeholders.
* Assisting in the technical modelling skills development and knowledge sharing within the team.
Your Background
* Significant Experience working in a system planning role, with focus on Energy systems (generation, transmission, and distribution) planning, design, construction, operation, and maintenance.
* Well-developed written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills.
* Business and financial analysis evaluation principles and methodologies.
* Commercial aspects of the energy industry including general understanding of major energy purchase/supply contracts.
* Energy systems technology, including renewable energy and energy storage technologies.
* Expert application of power system load flow and dispatch modelling.
* Expert application of power system dynamic modelling using RMS and EMT simulations.
* Proficient in use of asset databases and systems, and Microsoft excel.
You'll also need to supply a police clearance prior to starting and have unrestricted working rights.
